Why Some Larger Sizes Cost More
Garments in larger sizes require more raw materials and production resources. More fabric, additional ink coverage, and increased manufacturing inputs, result in higher base production costs for those sizes.
Because of this, you may see pricing structured like:
| XS - XL | $29 |
2X | $31 |
3X | $33 |
4X | $35 |
These price differences reflect the actual cost of producing the garment in each size.
Why Some Large Brands Price Every Size the Same
You may notice that some large national or international retailers offer one flat price across all sizes. Bigger companies often have the ability to average costs across massive production runs and absorb higher manufacturing expenses within their overall pricing structure.
As a small, independent business, we don’t currently have that level of purchasing power or scale. In order to maintain quality, sustainability, and long-term growth, we price items in alignment with actual production costs.
Our Goal Moving Forward
Our goal as we grow is to continually evaluate pricing and find opportunities to improve value wherever possible. As Pride Clothing Co. expands, increased scale may allow us to absorb more of these cost differences in the future.
Thank you for supporting a small, LGBTQ-owned business that is building with integrity, transparency, and inclusion at the forefront. If you ever have questions, we’re always happy to help.
Frequently Asked Questions
No, we do not charge an additional fee. Most larger/plus sizes incur a higher production cost, thus leading to a higher retail price.
Larger garments require more fabric and production materials, which increases the base cost to manufacture them. As a small business, we price items based on actual production costs to maintain quality and sustainability.
No. The price difference reflects the additional material and manufacturing cost required for larger garments. Our goal is fairness and transparency, not margin expansion on specific sizes.
Large retailers often produce garments in massive quantities and can average their production costs across millions of units. As an independent, eco-conscious brand, we don’t yet have that scale, so we price items according to real cost differences. In addition, as our garments are made to-order, we are committed to reducing environmental waste by over production.
We hope so. As Pride Clothing Co. grows and gains greater production scale, we’ll continue evaluating ways to reduce or absorb size-based cost differences whenever possible.
